It has been a very busy year so far, we are now a fully accredited PAS 43 Recovery operator and work to the highest required standards to meet the accreditation. We have recently acquired new contract work to run alongside our busy workshops and MOT testing Facility. A new Apex recovery computer system has also gone live this week which allows us to collect jobs electronically and dispatch them promptly.

Its been a busy few months. We have lots going on at the moment. We now have a new technician, who has settled in very nicely and is a great asset to our team. He is ex RAC,very experienced in the workshop and dealing with customers at the roadside.
Aaron, who has been with me for the last five years has just completed his MOT training and is now a qualified tester. I might even get a day off soon.
We are currently in the process of completing ISO9001/PAS43 accreditation for the business, so many nights of paperwork at the moment.
We have just purchased a new laser wheel alignment system to replace our old equipment and a new tyre changer and wheel balancer to ensure damage free fitting of tyres to modern alloy wheels.
There are even more improvements to the premises in the next few weeks also.

The Clio came into the workshop for MOT this morning. The balljoint had been replaced very recently, the only problem was.....the securing bolt was missing and a drill bit was hammered into the housing.

Busy Busy August

Posted on September 1, 2015 at 2:10 PM Comments comments (19)
August has been a very busy month for us this year. We have seen more broken down cars this month for some strange reason. We have been out to four cars this morning and every car had the same fault....crankshaft sensor failure. We also have been out to more vehicles with the incorrect fuel put in.

Now is also a good time to get your vehicle correctly serviced and ready for the Winter months which will be with us very soon. Air Conditioning systems should be checked and re-gassed if required as this aids Winter demisting. Coolant should be checked for correct strength and renewed if required. All lights, washers and drive belts need to be fully checked and replaced if required. Tyres should be well above the minimum limit and set to the correct pressure. We have lots of customers who we store their Winter tyres for them, and they really do make a big difference. And dont forget the much overlooked pollen filter.

A few horror stories this week

Posted on May 28, 2015 at 4:58 PM Comments comments (20)
Well its been another busy week and its not over yet. The workshop is very busy with a good mix of jobs and also the major refurbishment of the site is going well too .Here are a few pics of this weeks jobs.

The Vauxhall Astra arrived with a oil leak. As can be seen in the picture something has broken in the gearbox and smashed the casing. easy diagnosis but expensive repair.

The Toyota arrived in the workshop with the battery warning light on. A strip down revealed that the alternator belt had shredded and the crankshaft pulley was in two pieces. This customer was also very lucky because the timing belt cover had also been broken and lots of debris had gone behind the timing belt.

This customer was complaining of poor handling and wanted a wheel alignment check. The car was virtually impossible to drive and dangerous. The car was virtually brand new with less than a 1000 miles on the clock. New steering rack fitted and new tyres too and now like a new car again.

More Stranded Motorists

Another late night call from one of our work providers was to a stranded motorist on the busy M6. The teenage lad was quite shaken up by the ordeal on a dark, wet motorway. Lots of vehicles now dont come equipped with a spare wheel so a roadside repair is not an option. Back to the workshop, new tyre fitted and he is soon on his way to London.

A busy December and January

Posted on January 18, 2015 at 1:31 PM Comments comments (29)
December and January has been a very busy time for us. We had a short cold snap in December which resulted in lots of call outs and lots of batteries to be fitted. We have also had lots of call outs with cars with blown turbos this year. I cant ever remember fitting as many. Most turbo failure is caused by poor maintenance and incorrect oils being used.

The Renault scenic was booked in for a noise on the brakes. On closer examination it was found that the brake pads had completely worn away and one was actually missing. The brake caliper piston had come out and had virtually worn through the brake disc.
